Greeting Cards & Flowers Are the Most Planned Mother’s Day Purchases in US, 2017 | NRF

According to a survey conducted by NRF, American shoppers were expected to spend nearly $23.6 billion in 2017 compared to $21.4 billion in 2016. So, retailers should be ready with a wide range of gift options and a variety of promotions for their customers.

In terms of the most planned Mother’s day purchases, greeting cards came at the top with a rate of 77.9%, followed by flowers (58.5%), special outings such as dinner or brunch (55.9%) and gift cards/certificates (45%).

It worth to be mentioned that, American shoppers planned to spend $4.2 billion on special outings such as dinner or brunch (purchased by 56%), $2.6 billion on flowers (69%), $2.5 billion on gift cards (45%), $2.1 billion on clothing (37%), $2 billion on consumer electronics (15%) and $1.9 billion on personal services such as a spa day (24%).
