Shopping Tags Are Now Available on Instagram Stories

Instagram is taking shopping beyond Feed to Instagram Stories.

Now, you can add a sticker with a shopping bag icon to your product image in your Instagram Stories, to enable your customers to see more details about it. From Adidas to Louis Vuitton, people have been able to shop from their favorite brands around the world, and now they can shop these brands in Instagram Stories.

Back in March 2017, Instagram announced rolling out a new feature for a better shopping experience on Instagram for brands in the US; which is adding shopping tags to organic posts. So if a product catches user’s eye, there’s a space to explore, as they can easily tap the tag to see more details from products featured in posts, and even click to a business’s website if they are ready to buy.

Last year, we launched a new shopping experience that allowed businesses in the US to tag products in their organic posts. From major brands to small businesses, more and more are using the shopping on Instagram feature to connect with customers in a fresh, immersive way—allowing people to seamlessly go from inspiration to information and purchase in just a few taps, and do so in a way that feels natural to the Instagram experience. To learn more about the shopping on Instagram tool, check out our recent blog post at the link below:https://business.instagram.com/blog/shopping-on-instagram-goes-global/

If a brand has a verified account, they will be able to switch on product tagging through the app settings. It’s similar to tagging people, and the below GIF explains how to tag a product in an organic post

Moreover, Instagram explained more about adding the feature to Stories:

“Shoppers on Instagram are savvy. They visit Instagram looking for the latest trends and styles. With 300M using Instagram Stories everyday, people are increasingly finding new products from brands they love. In a recent survey, Instagrammers said they often watch stories to stay in the-know with brands they’re interested in, get an insider view of products they like, and find out about new products that are relevant to them.”

“Brands have always been early adopters of stories, they create some of the most viewed and engaging content on the platform. Now, you can shop from select brands in Instagram Stories with more coming soon.”

Finally, all business profiles have access to Instagram Shopping tags, regardless of their follower size. It seems like Instagram is moving further into the world of e-commerce by allowing brands to add tags to their products; while this step comes with many new features like  Voice & Video ChatIGTVStories SharingNew Explore that take Instagram to more than just a photo-sharing app.
