66% of Online Shoppers in South Africa Prefer to Pay With a Credit or Debit Card, 2017 | Effective Measure

Online shopping is increasingly becoming the norm for online audiences in South Africa. 80% of online shoppers have either maintained or increased their online shopping habit over the last year besides 46% of offline shoppers claimed that they will make an online purchase within the coming year.

In terms of the payment preference among those who shop online in South Africa, 45% of them prefer to pay with a credit card and 21% prefer to do so with a debit card; accounting over 65% of all respondents surveyed.

Bank transfer ranked the third with only 20%, while PayPal and other payment methods lagged behind with only 7% and 8% respectively.
