In 2017, holiday shopping season accounts for more than $1 trillion and more than one-quarter of annual US retail sales. Expectations of online spending also exceed those of in-store spending for the first time (51% vs. 42% of shopping budget), after reaching parity in 2016.
In terms of the devices used during the holiday shopping journey in the US, 67% of US consumers surveyed said that they plan to use their smartphones for online browsing, 65% will use such devices for checking/comparing prices and 63% will do so to track their order status.
US consumers are probably to purchase via smartphones with a rate of 59%, significantly higher than 43% last year.
