In the MENA region, mobile penetration totaled 59% in 2016, and it’s expected to hit 62% by 2020. Smartphone adoption also totaled 46% in 2016 and it’s expected to reach 64% by 2020.
On the other hand, the mobile ecosystem had contributed an estimated $ 200 billion that represented about 4.1% of the total MENA GDP (Gross Domestic Product); with this contribution, the mobile ecosystem had an economic contribution equal to that of the whole digital ecosystem as estimated by Mckinsey.
