Internet advertising revenues in the United States totaled $32.7 billion, for the first six months of 2016. Revenues for this period increased 19.1% over the first six months of 2015. The analysis of the historical trend (as shown in the below graph) indicates that 2016 would be the highest year in revenues.
The internet, as medium for advertising, had been gaining a significant momentume and had been witnessing a significant dynamism throughout the recent years. In HY2016, 3 key trends could be highlighted as below:
- In terms of advertising formats: Mobile surpasses Desktop-Search as the lead ad format for the first time, and it accounted for 47% of HY2016 internet Ads revenues.
- In terms of advertising pricing-models: the Performance-based pricing (e.g. CPC) leads the internet advertising models, and it had accounted for about 65% of HY2016 internet Ads revenues.
- In terme od industry sectors / categories: Retail is the leading category among the internet advertisements, and it accounted for 21% of HY2016 internet Ads revenues.
