To tap easier into trends based on music clips, Instagram has added the capacity to search for audio specifically within the search tab in the app.
As shown below, now, when you search on Instagram, you’ll be able to switch across to a new ‘Audio’ tab. Instagram’s audio tab will highlight the diverse tracks available for use within the app.
All you need to do is to tap on any track and you’ll see a TikTok-like display of the Reels that have utilized samples of that song.
After that you can save the audio for your own usage, on the other hand, you will also get a full overview of relevant clips and trends for inspiration. We can say that Instagram’s audio tab is a TikTok feature, replicating the “Sounds” tab, down to the example clips that use each track.
Pretty much, it’s not something new, however, with Instagram looking forward to pushing Reels usage, in an effort to fend off rising competition from TikTok, it actually makes sense for it to align with usage trends, besides facilitating related discovery as best it can.
Will Instagram’s audio tab make people create more Reels? The answer is probably yes because the similar feature on TikTok plays a big role.
On the other hand, this also comes on the same day that YouTube has launched a new ad campaign that promotes how to do the exact same thing within its own TikTok-like Shorts feature.
We can see that all features are starting to be similar, on the other hand, TikTok continues to add more users and grow the platform’s influence among younger audiences in particular.
It is expected that both Instagram and YouTube will continue to add more tools like TikTok whenever possible.
