Shoppers start buying before Ramadan starts and the trend continues to escalate during first few weeks, with the highest uplift in online retail sales seen in the third week of Ramadan. During Ramadan, online retail sales in the Middle East are increasing by 29% with an uplift in visitors by 21%.
The extraordinary uplift in online retail sales and visitors is seen in the week before Eid al-Fitr with a maximum uplift of online retail sales with plus 42%, while visitors increase by plus 35% in the Middle East during Ramadan.
